Community

CREATED
03 Feb 2023

The United Nations recognises the 4th of February as International Day of Human Fraternity. It aims to emphasise the importance of raising awareness about different cultures, religions, beliefs, and the promotion of tolerance and additionally, aims to educate people that tolerance, pluralistic tradition, mutual respect, and diversity of religions and beliefs promote human fraternity.

We live in a global ‘village’ where boundaries are blurred and the world is continuously shrinking - however, the awareness and understanding of different religions, customs, and cultures, still needs a lot to be desired.  The world is slightly more divided now than it was before and a country like India with diverse culture, vulture and beliefs stands almost as a test case for this international day. On the outset,  India does have diversity written all over it, but the unity is being challenged in the past few years, owing to the communal riots, boycotting, and honour killing and so on and recognising the importance of this day and working towards fulfilling the aim of this day is crucial, especially in the present times.

The international day of human fraternity is a reminder to embrace our differences, while creating a world of diverse, multicultural beings. The overall plan on this day to observe international day of Human Fraternity can be classified as follows:

1.      Practice tolerance

2.      Raise awareness on human fraternity

3.      Utilise social media tools to aid connectivity

On this International Day of Human Fraternity, let’s fight discrimination, and more importantly, let us fight the fights themselves and embrace one another and irrespective of where we belong!
